Jessie is a 2020 Senior from Paetow High School. I first met Jessie a few years ago when her sister, Sophie, was a senior. Jessie wanted her photos to be different than Sophie’s and to show that her personality is very different. She sent me a few ideas of what she would like for her photos. We came up with a game plan, and started out bright and early in Houston. I love Jessie’s photos! She warmed up and got comfortable taking photos quickly. Not many gals have the legs to pull of the pose with the tire! I had to include the tree hugger shot for fun (had to edit my husband out of that one!) just because she liked it. Jessie didn’t bat an eye and jumped right in with any idea we came up with. We have some more photos planned to show off her interest in Choir and to document her years of dedication to Girl Scouts. We are sure to get more great shots!
OTHS Senior Night
Three blogs in one week? What? Lots going on that I want to share!
Last night was Senior night for the Falcons. The seniors on the football team, cheerleaders and band were recognized. Senior night is always so much fun, but it’s a bittersweet night. Lots of laughter and tears- from the kids and the moms! These kids have worked hard for a long time to represent their teams. Some of them will continue into college, but for a lot of them, this is the end. Moms and Dads are watching their babies and are so proud of them but are sad it is over. The Falcons had a great night and completely defeated Cinco Ranch with an ending score of 58 - 0. It was a great ending to a great season. Congratulations Falcons!!!! It’s been a great season!
OTHS JV Volleyball
Usually the people I am taking photos of are still. They go where I tell them to go, sit how I tell them to sit and look at the camera and smile. I had a friend ask me if I could go to a volleyball game and take photos. I thought, sure! How hard can it be? Volleyball players move really fast! I’m kinda sad this was their last game and I only had one chance. Maybe next year I’ll try it again!
Heidi
Heidi is a 2020 Senior from Tompkins High School. She is a Drum Major for their Falcon Band. Heidi was voted Homecoming Queen by her peers.
Heidi choose Houston for her Senior photo session. It was cold!!!! Cold for Texas anyway! Heidi did tell us it wasn’t as cold as the night before when she was conducting at the football game from the podium. She was a trooper! Her white coat coordinated perfectly with her white sweater and skirt she wore. I know she had to be cold, but she didn’t show it. Heidi’s red jumpsuit was perfect to help her stand out in her downtown photos. Red is a great color for her with her dark hair and eyes. Heidi choose to wear a Tipoy, a Bolivian national dress, for her photos in the park. So pretty!
Heidi nailed her fierce look. Maybe it was the “Look like Mr. Bond just yelled at you” prompt! She can flash a beautiful smile too. We have some more photos planned and I can’t wait to do more work with Heidi! Enjoy a few of Heidi’s photos here below and drop us a comment to let us know what you think!
UIL Marching Contest
Know what’s better than going to a football game for the half time show? Going to a marching contest and seeing lots of shows! Katy has an amazing stadium and hosts several marching contests. I went to the latest one that was held there on Tuesday. I’m happy to share some of the photos I took of the different bands! Great way to spend a Tuesday evening!
OTHS vs. Morton Ranch
Football is great and all, but I really only go to the games for the half time shows! Don’t tell anyone- they may think I’m not a Texan or something! That being said, Tompkins has come a long way in the few short years they have been playing football. Not only has the football team drastically improved, but the band program is incredible! If you have not see this show, you only have a few more times to do it. If you would like to check out the shows from all of the local high schools, you can do that at the competition at Legacy Stadium on Tuesday. I will be there (with my camera, of coarse)! I did snap a few photos while I was at Saturday’s game.
Football (marching season) will be over soon. Check out some of these shows while you can. The kids put in a lot of hard work.
Shannon Holland Photography is now booking 2020 Seniors. If you see some photos of a few kids more than others, it’s because they are one of my Senior clients. I can zoom in on you too and get some photos of you before the season is over. Just let me know! Email me at shan@shannonhollandphotography.com or give me a call or text at 512-818-3867. I would love to see you through my lens!
Madison, 2020 Senior from OTHS
Madison was so much fun to work with! She choose Wallis for her Senior session.
After a quick warm up, we jumped right in with some photos. Madison wanted to document her love for coke in her session and this coke mural was perfect for the occasion.
It is a love/ hate thing when you have so many favorites from your session! So hard to choose which ones to share! (click the arrows to see more!)
I love it when I get to use some photoshop skills!
I’m not sure, but I think the field shots might be my favorites! What do you think?
Mayde Creek VS OTHS
The schools in Katy ISD share two stadiums. That means sometimes the schools play their football game on a Thursday or a Saturday. I decided to take in some Thursday night lights and run out to the game to take a few photos. I don’t really understand much about football, but do love to watch the halftime show. The Tompkins Cavelettes are so talented!
The Tompkins Falcon Band’s show this year is like nothing they have done before. It is pretty amazing. I am loving the red polka dotted dressed the color guard wears.
The Mayde Creek Martinettes put on a great show! Their fans were very excited to watch them perform. I am a little envious of the dance teams since that was never something I could do.
The Mayde Creek Mighty Ram Band finished up the half time show. These kids have so much drive and determination! If you have never talked to a band kid, take the time to talk to one and ask them about the time and dedication it takes from each and every one of them to put on their show.
October is already almost half way over. Fooball/ Marching Band season will be over soon. I’m going to take it in and enjoy it while I can! I’ll be out there with my camera. Come back here and see if I see you!
Seven Lakes HOCO
I always enjoy getting to sit back and watch the high school festivities. There isn’t much more fun than a Homecoming football game. Have you heard the saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas”? Well, that is certainly true about Homecoming! When we first moved to Texas and one of my sons told me I needed to make a mum for his date, I had no clue what he was talking about. If you don’t know what a Homecoming mum is (I’ll give you a hint, it is more than a little flower), google Texas Homecoming mum. Anyway, I went to the Seven Lakes Homecoming game to snap a few photos of a few of my senior clients. I always end up snapping photos of others just because I have so much fun with it. Here are a few of the photos from each of the groups I got.
Shannon Holland Photography is now booking 2020 seniors. If you would like to have someone capture your senior year and not just have a photo session, send us an email at shan@shannonhollandphotography.com or call or text 512-818-3867.
OTHS HOCO game
What a game! I can remember when going to a Tompkins game wasn’t very exciting. The Falcon football team has come a long way! I was at the game to capture some photos of Heidi, one of the drum majors for Tompkins. She was on the Homecoming court. I love to catch my seniors in action- doing what they do that makes high school special to them. I was thrilled that she won and was the Falcon Band’s first Homecoming queen! Here are a few photos that I captured of Heidi and the Homecoming ceremony.

Sharla
Sometimes I just need someone to try some new stuff on! I’ve known Sharla for a while and she said she was happy for me to experiment on. I had a new location I wanted to try (I’m thinking HOCO photos will be great here!) and some new props. She didn’t even complain when I had her wearing fur in the 100 degree Texas heat!
She's a natural!
This gal was so natural in front of the camera. Such a little doll! She came up with some of the poses on her own. She might be only 6, but she can pose as good as any 16 year old!
Madison
Madison did such a great job with her session! She has been putting in some long hours with band so I was glad we could squeeze in some time for a few photos. I love it when my clients come to me with ideas and props they would like to use. They help make their session unique and special just for them. Can’t wait to catch Madison performing with her high school band under the Friday night lights!
